Welcome to the Community: Philip and Kerstin’s Narra Park Residences Story

Philip and Kerstin Vargas, like many young couples, made a few pit stops on their journey towards home ownership. After getting married three years ago, they lived with Philip’s parents for a while, before renting their own apartment, where they currently raise their two-year-old daughter Ishy.

Last year, the Vargases decided to take the leap and buy their own home. They purchased a two-storey unit at Narra Park Residences, the maiden project of Nurtura Land & Home by Alsons Dev.

We had a quick chat with the couple to know more about their Narra Park Residences story and what they look forward to the most about this promising community in Tigatto, Davao City.

A little detour

The couple was already making payments for a home at another residential development when unmet expectations caused them to doubt their decision. They decided to look at other options and heard that Alsons Dev was launching a new mid-cost housing project under a new brand, Nurtura Land & Home.

Philip, who owns a packaging supply business, has family and friends who are happy residents of other communities developed by Alsons Dev under its Alsons Properties brand. “Ang Alsons kasi, established na dito sa Davao,” he explains.

After visiting the Nurtura sales office, the Vargases were convinced and became one of the first buyers of Narra Park Residences.

A good place to start

Kerstin says that Narra Park Residences is perfect for people who are just starting out, because it offers the qualities that an Alsons Dev community is well-known for but at a more attainable price point. “Confident ka kapag Alsons ang developer ng subdivision mo. Kumpiyansa ka talaga,” she said.

Construction quality was another important factor that convinced the couple to invest in Narra Park Residences. “Nung pinuntahan namin ‘yung model units, nagustahan namin dahil pulido talaga ang pagkakagawa,” Philip said.

The homes in this community are all constructed via the cast-in-place method. To create the “shell” or framework of the house, cement mixture is poured into special aluminum molds and is allowed to harden. This results in a single, solid structure that offers greater durability than houses built using standard hollow blocks. Moreover, this method allows for efficient construction of homes without sacrificing structural integrity.

And after keeping their home purchase under wraps for a couple of months, the couple made the big reveal by taking their parents to see the model units. As expected, Philip and Kerstin’s parents gave it a big thumbs-up!

Nurturing families

Philip said that the environment in Narra Park Residences was one of the community’s major draws, especially the kid-friendly amenities such as the two 1.5-hectare parks, the cabaña, and the playgrounds. In addition, the location was also ideal, as the community is near the school that he wants his daughter to attend when she is older.

For the Vargases, a home is more than just an investment—it’s a sign of love and care for their family. As Kerstin put it: “Gusto namin na lumaki si Ishy thinking na, ‘Wow, mahal talaga ako ng family ko kasi binigyan nila ako ng sarili kong house na nasa magandang environment.’”
